The fourth edition of the Football and Netball Aminuis Winter Cup tournament is starting tomorrow at the RC Sports Ground.

“At the same time, we want keep our youth busy and promote the spirit of togetherness,” Patire added.

In addition to the trophy, the football teams will be competing for N$20 000, while the netball prizes will be determined by number of the registered teams.

“Each netball team will register with N$650. Twenty three football teams have registered, and this includes five invited teams from Epukiro, Aranos, and Gobabis,” he said.

The organiser said that the winner in the football category will pocket N$10 000 and a trophy, 20 gold medals and certificates.

An amount of N$5 000 will be given to the runners-up with 20 silver medals and certificates.

Each semifinalist will walk away with N$2 500 plus 20 certificates.

Outjie-based Super Stars won the competition last year after defeating Fill the Gap by a solitary goal.

Super Stars coach Stima Patire told New Era Sport that his team is ready to defend the cup.

“The boys are ready for the battle; there have been no injuries in the camp so far, and every match would be like a final,” the coach emphasised.

Patire added that the Super Stars want to keep the trophy home and further urged the supporters to come in numbers as they are the 12th player in the field.

The competition is organised under the auspices of the UP Talent Academy.
