OMAALALA- Activist Job Amupanda said he will continue to meet the government halfway after donating equipment to construct a school hall and renovate a playground at his former school, Omaalala Primary School in the Oshana region.
The equipment was donated last week, where Amupanda also used the opportunity to motivate learners to study hard and respect their teachers.
The activist said he assisted the school after being appointed as its patron last year.
“As a former learner of Omaalala Primary School, I am proud to be a patron of the school,” he added.
Amupanda also said that he recently built two classrooms and an administrative block at Otanana Combined School in the Oshikoto region.
He added that, through the Revolutionary Union, he built two classrooms at Limbandungila Combined School in Ohangwena.
However, the parliamentarian did not disclose the total value of the constructed classrooms.
“It is very important that when we assist schools, it motivates learners to study hard,” he said.
He added that learners deserve to be taught in a conducive environment and should not suffer.
Amupanda thanked the ministry of education for renovating four classrooms at Omaalala Primary School that were recently destroyed by wind.
“Learners are the leaders of tomorrow. It is, therefore, important to invest in them so that they can complete their schooling,” he encouraged.
Amupanda said the construction of the school hall is expected to be completed before the end of this year.
The principal of Omaalala Primary School, Emilia Simeon, thanked the national leader for caring about Namibia’s children.
She highlighted the challenges faced by the school, such as the lack of proper toilets and classrooms.
“Our school needs assistance. I am calling on businesspeople and former learners to come on board and assist the school,” she said.
Omaalala Primary School has 500 learners.
