Baby’s remains discovered at Keetmans dumpsite

Baby’s remains discovered at Keetmans dumpsite

KEETMANSHOOP – The remains of a fully developed baby, concealed in a black rubbish bag, were discovered at the Keetmanshoop dumpsite on Tuesday.

Andre Garöeb, who visited the area in search of scrap metal, informed New Era that he found a black plastic bag that he thought had animal intestines.

To his shock, when he touched it, he realised there was a human body. “The bag is part of rubbish earlier dumped by the Keetmanshoop municipality, and out of experience, we know they dump refuse collected from the Noordhoek residential area on Thursdays,” he said.

Another person found at the scene, Olga Bloodstaan said she opened the bag and found the fully developed baby girl wrapped in a grey sports hoodie with her umbilical cord still attached.

The body was taken to the Keetmanshoop mortuary by members of the Namibian Police forensic unit.
