Blue Waters sack Kasaona …Armando Petro, Thomas Mvula to take reins

Blue Waters has relieved Uerikondjera ‘Mammie’ Kasaona of her duties as head coach, and Steven Damaseb has also stepped down as assistant coach.

Kasaona made history as the first female coach in the Namibia Premier League when she was appointed by Blue Waters following her impressive triumph in the 2025 Newspaper Cup with the Kunene Region.

She initially joined Blue Waters as part of the coaching staff at the start of the 2025 season and stepped in as interim head coach in May 2025 after the suspension of then-head coach Paulus Shipanga.

Under her leadership, Kasaona managed 25 games, securing eight wins, 10 draws, and seven losses, amassing 34 points. They currently sit in 11th place with 21 points.

The club’s management said the decision is part of a broader plan to restructure the technical team, aiming to provide stability and continuity for players and supporters, and to maximise the team’s chances of achieving a higher league finish.

Kasaona was not reachable for comment before going to print.

Armando Petro, to be assisted by Thomas Mvula, will take over coaching responsibilities until the end of the season.

The side will face Bucks Buccaneers on Saturday at the SKW Stadium and will then face Okahandja United on Sunday at the Nau-Aib Stadium.
