By Special Correspondent OPUWO Kunene Region’s Police public relations officer, Constable Joe Nambili, has described cases of house-breaking and theft in the region as escalating and appealed for cooperation in order to curb the problem. He said on Monday in Khorixas, at a shop known as Club India, that three suspects had used duplicate keys to gain access into the shop and removed cash amounting to N$7ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 590. The incident happened during the morning hours. Only N$2ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 600 has been recovered. All three suspects who were arrested shortly afterwards are in custody at the Khorixas Police cells while investigations continue. They have been identified as 20-year-old Crosley Ganuseb, 21-year-old Dankie Hanabeb and 23-year-old Alfred Hoeb. In Opuwo, suspect(s) broke open the door of a bar known as Miami System to gain entry and vanished with a cash amount of N$7ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 202. The incident took place last week. The case has already been registered with the police, but no arrests have yet been made. Investigations are continuing. In another separate incident, the police, according to Nambili, registered a death report in their files earlier this week at Otjitambi Village in the Opuwo District where villagers brought in the body of a man believed to have hailed from Angola and who died on Saturday at the village headman’s house. Information given to the police by the village residents was that the man had been complaining of a headache, stomach ache, and had vomited constantly for two consecutive days before he died. Other information obtained was that the man, identified only as Petrus, used to come from Angola to buy goats in the village and other nearby villages. His age is unknown, and the police have thus called on people with information to come forward in an effort to trace his family. Meanwhile, a post mortem examination will be carried out in Oshakati in the Oshana Region to ascertain the exact cause of death. An inquest docket has been registered with the police.
