Chery has announced a major upgrade to its popular Tiggo 4 range, strengthening its position in the competitive compact SUV market in Namibia. The refreshed Tiggo Cross LiT MT and Tiggo Cross LiT CVT models are expected to arrive in Namibian showrooms as early as next month, offering numerous improvements focused on safety, comfort, technology, and overall driving experience.
Since its regional launch in November 2024, the Tiggo 4 has proven to be a major success story for the brand. In southern Africa, more than 18 000 units were sold in 2025, making it one of the region’s top-performing passenger vehicles. The model consistently ranked at the top of regional sales rankings, highlighting its appeal among budget-conscious buyers seeking value-packed mobility.
Building on this momentum, Chery’s latest upgrade aims to enhance the vehicle without altering its strong value proposition. Once available locally, the Tiggo Cross LiT MT is expected to retail, taxes included, at approximately N$290 000, while the CVT variant is projected to come in at around N$320 000, positioning both models competitively within Namibia’s growing SUV market.
A key focus of the upgrade lies in improved safety and visibility. Both variants now feature bright LED headlights and a full-width rear light design, enhancing nighttime driving visibility while giving the vehicle a more modern and distinctive appearance.
Additional safety features include the introduction of front side airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and passenger seatbelt reminders. These enhancements are complemented by smart cruise control and electrically heated side mirrors, which contribute to safer and more convenient driving in varying conditions.
Another notable addition is the inclusion of a rear-view camera as standard across both models. This feature offers clearer visibility when reversing, helping drivers navigate tight parking situations with greater confidence.
Inside the cabin, Chery has placed a strong emphasis on comfort and refinement. The upgraded models now come equipped with faux leather seats, providing a more premium feel. A rear centre armrest enhances passenger comfort, particularly on longer journeys, while automatic variants benefit from a driver’s footrest designed to reduce fatigue during extended drives. Smart cruise control further improves long-distance driving by reducing the driver’s workload on the highway.
The interior design is also modernised through the inclusion of dual 10.25-inch digital screens. These displays provide a sleek, high-tech aesthetic, while delivering clear and intuitive access to vehicle information and infotainment functions. Technology and connectivity remain central to the Tiggo 4’s appeal, and the new LiT models expand on this strength.
Drivers can now enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, allowing seamless access to navigation, music, and communication apps without cables. Additional convenience features include keyless one-touch start and a smart voice assistant, enabling hands-free control of various vehicle functions.
An upgraded audio system has also been introduced, offering improved sound quality and a richer in-car entertainment experience, catering to the expectations of modern consumers who prioritise connectivity and multimedia features.
According to the Chery sales team, the upgrades reflect the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. The team also emphasised that the enhancements were achieved without increasing the recommended retail price, ensuring customers continue to receive strong value for money.
“These updated vehicles are the result of our continuous pursuit of excellence through innovation,” said a salesman, adding that the improvements underline the brand’s dedication to quality engineering and delivering accessible, feature-rich vehicles.
With the arrival of the upgraded Tiggo Cross LiT models, Chery is poised to strengthen its foothold in Namibia and the broader regional market. The combination of advanced safety features, modern technology and competitive pricing is likely to appeal to a wide range of buyers, from first-time car owners to families seeking a practical yet stylish compact SUV.
