Renault introduces the new Kiger Turbo

Renault has unveiled the new Renault Kiger Turbo, giving one of the brand’s bestloved car models its own moment in the spotlight. The Kiger Turbo, expected to be in Namibian showrooms by April, has consistently been among Renault’s top sellers in southern Africa, thanks to smart pricing, strong fuel efficiency with a more assertive design, crisper turbo performance and richer tech aimed squarely at local tastes, where SUVstyle vehicles continue to dominate buyer preference.

Building on the updated Naturally Aspirated Kiger range introduced in November 2025, the new Kiger Turbo steps forward with enhancements you can see and feel, all anchored by Renault’s philosophy of attainable innovation.

Noting the model’s role in expanding Renault’s SUV footprint in southern Africa while delivering everyday value, Shumani Tshifularo, CEO of Renault South Africa, said, “This updated version brings meaningful improvements to performance, technology, design and safety. These are enhancements that reinforce the Kiger’s position as one of the most compelling options in the compact SUV segment,” said Shumani Tshifularo, CEO of Renault South Africa.

“With these advancements, the Kiger continues to stand out as one of the most competitively priced vehicles in its class, offering exceptional value without compromise.”

Across global markets, the Kiger has earned recognition for blending style, packaging and cost of ownership, supported by efficient powertrains and a cleverly designed cabin offering 405 litres of boot space (expandable to 879 litres), 29 litres of interior storage and 50kgrated functional roof rails. This proven formula has driven its commercial success, with over 180 000 units sold globally and over 28 000 units on southern African roads, highlighting the model’s broad and sustained market resonance.

Upfront promise

The new Kiger Turbo delivers serious punch for real southern African roads – harnessing a responsive 1.0litre turbocharged petrol engine pushing out up to 74kW and 160Nm. Whether paired with a five-speed manual or a smooth X-Tronic CVT, the Kiger’s turbo powertrain delivers confident, effortless performance. Upper trims further elevate the experience with MultiSense drive modes, letting you switch between Eco, Normal and Sport to match your mood and terrain.

Tech that feels a class up is the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 7-inch TFT cluster, available wireless charging, and hands-free key card convenience.

The new Renault has been described as big-car practicality in a compact footprint, providing 205 mm of ground clearance, generous storage, and easy-use loading space.

The new Kiger also provides safety breadth where it matters through standard active and passive protection with ABS + EBD + brake assist, TPMS, ISOFIX, rear sensors, and available ESC, TCS and six airbags higher up the range.

Updated Kiger

The updated Kiger Turbo brings a bolder design, a smarter cabin and more advanced tech, all built around everyday southern African driving. A refreshed exterior, upgraded interior finishes, and intuitive new convenience features give the model a more premium feel, while the turbocharged engine and MultiSense drive modes deliver a lively, efficient drive that suits both city traffic and openroad momentum.

Inside, comfort is elevated through front (driver & passenger) ventilated leather seats (only on the Iconic model), wireless smartphone mirroring, a seven-inch digital cluster, and thoughtful cabin storage.

The enhanced tech suite includes practical, lifestylefriendly additions such as handsfree key card access, remote engine start, Belongings Reminder, and TakeaBreak reminders, keeping the Kiger Turbo feeling modern and effortless to use.

Safety is strengthened too, with up to 21 standard safety features across the lineup, including ABS with EBD, TPMS, ISOFIX and available ESC, TCS and six airbags.

The model is also available in six attractive colour palettes, including a new addition, autumn yellow, grey, and red, alongside existing options: Blue, white and silver.
