Another emotional confrontation involving ‘struggle kids’ ensued yesterday after the group showed up at the headquarters of the ruling party Swapo. According to the police, who were hastily called to the scene, the group prevented anyone from entering or exiting the Swapo premises as they demanded a re-look into an eviction letter they received yesterday in which they were ordered to vacate the farm they currently live on in the Brakwater area. “We had to come in and push them away and that is what we did. So far, nothing serious happened in terms of injuries and damages,” police deputy commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa told New Era. Government last week offered training, food and monthly allowances to the group – with the training slated for Gobabis – but the group rejected the offer, demanding jobs instead. Violent clashes ensued last week after the group blocked the B1 road between Windhoek and Okahandja as a result of the ongoing disagreements between the group and government, over offers made to them.
