Dignitaries Bid Farewell to Namcol Director

Home Archived Dignitaries Bid Farewell to Namcol Director

By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK “Namcol’s staff is excited about the opportunity to put to good use the knowledge, skills and competencies we have acquired under the leadership of the founding director of our institution.” So said the new Namcol director, Heroldt Murangi, on Monday evening at a special farewell function for the former director, Frances Ferreira. A number of ministers and invited dignitaries attended the occasion at the Polytechnic of Namibia. Ferreira has been with Namcol for the past 10 years. “We know that in the world of change, nothing which comes stays, and nothing which goes is lost. “We say this because we are well aware of Frances Ferreira’s competencies and believe that her arrival at the Commonwealth of Learning will lead to valuable results,” Murangi said. Ferreira, her husband and two of her children will be stationed in Canada in the education department of the Commonwealth. According to Murangi, the current capacity of Namcol to enrol about 26ÃÆ’Æ‘ÀÃ…ÃÆ”šÃ‚ 000 learners annually, is a result of Frances Ferreira’s refreshing ideals. “Every time we walk past the computer-based Learning Centre or the Bookshop or the Resource Centre or visit the Northern Regional Office in Ongwediva, we shall be reminded of your big-picture thinking. These projects are living testimonies of your hard work and dedication to make Namcol a world-class institution of excellence,” the new director said. “With the right team and the right spirit, anyone can achieve significant goals. Namcol’s staff has a service delivery method with the potential of becoming education’s new frontier in the knowledge-driven society,” concluded Murangi to great applause by the audience.
