WINDHOEK– Etienne Rooinasie known by his stage name of Little Eddie, has released a song titled Study hard from the album similarly titled but which is due for release end of November.
The song is meant to encourage learners as well as students to study hard and stay focused in school. The 20-year-old released the single last month hoping that the message in the song can inspire fellow learners. “’Education plays major role in our lives, without education you cannot do anything. It is hard to find a job without education and the song Study hard is a direct massage to all the learners and students to be the master of their ability,” says Little Eddie.
Little Eddie, who failed his Grade 12, is now currently upgrading his points at the Namibia College of Open Learning (Namcol) admits that failing has taught him a lot and he has learned his lesson. “I know that life without education is hard. I regret not taking education [serious] when I was still in high school and I don’t want other learners to go through what I did.” With the single he is expressing his disappointments to his family for failing, stating: “Everyone got a diploma, degree but what about me? I failed my school, I failed my Mummy, I failed Daddy, I failed my family but that is not my end. I can try my best, God bless me to make it one day.”
Little Eddie further goes on stating, “Sometimes we think everything we are taught in life is a joke but things we take as a joke play major roles in our life.” He ends in the song apologising to his parents for not making it, and at the same time promising to make it even if it will take him years.” “I inspire everyone to study hard because this life is getting hard every day,” he concludes.
Little Eddie plans focusing on educational songs with his upcoming fourth album to help and inspire learners and students. He also wants to collaborate with the Ministry of Education for tours in schools to talk about the importance of studying hard. His single is currently running on One Africa television’s YO Countdown music programme and also received good airplay on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)’s television’s Whatagwan music programme. His album will be launched end November.
