Former National Unity Democratic Organisation secretary general Meundju Jahanika announced yesterday he has joined the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) six months after he resigned from Nudo. Jahanika, who was at odds with the current Nudo leadership before his resignation, said he defected to PDM because he sees it as a non-tribal but democratic movement. “PDM also has zero tolerance on corruption,” he said.
Before his resignation in May this year, Jahanika and long-serving Nudo Okakarara constituency councillor Vetaruhe Kandorozu were accused of having campaigned against the party during last year’s Presidential and National Assembly elections – an allegation that last month resulted in the firing of Kandorozu from the party.
Jahanika was a member of parliament on the Nudo ticket between 2005 -2020 and had previously served as Nudo director and deputy secretary for information and publicity.
He was also a Swapo secretary for information and mobilisation for the Otjinene district between 1992 -2000 before defecting to Nudo.
