ONGWEDIVA – The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has deployed a customer service care team to the regions to train staff.

The staff members are expected to be trained on: customer service, communication, barriers to effective communication and good customer service vs bad customer service.

The ministry’s spokesperson Margaret Kalo, highlighted that customer care is an essential aspect of any successful organisation.

She stressed that it is the foundation on which institutions are built, and it determines the level of satisfaction that customers derive from their transactions with an organisation.

“It is, therefore, imperative for the ministry to prioritise customer service care to improve customer loyalty and retention, which, in turn, translates into increased best customer practice among staff members,” she emphasised.

“Therefore, by training all staff members the ministry will be able to provide top notch service to all our customers and will serve customers with efficient and effective support that caters to their needs and addresses their concerns.”

In addition, the training also focuses on techniques such as how to listen to customers, empathising with them, and offering timely solutions to their problems.

Additionally, Kalo said it involves creating a positive customer experience that makes customers feel valued and appreciated.

“The ministry wish to ensure and instil in the customer’s mind that good customer service exist in public institutions and we want the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security to serve as an example,” she said.
