Windhoek

Pensioners and people living with disabilities will this month receive a once-off payment of N$1 300 in State grants, following the recent 10 percent increase.

In a press statement, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare I-Ben Natangwe Nashandi said the social grants for people living with disabilities and those of pensioners increased with N$100 and payment will be backdated to April 1.

As of July, pensioners and people living with disabilities will receive N$1 100.

“The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare hereby informs all the beneficiaries of old age and disability grants that the payment of the increased grants will be paid from the month of June 2016 to all the eligible beneficiaries,” Nashandi confirmed.

“The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare urges all beneficiaries to ensure that these grants are used for the welfare of the beneficiaries and their families,” he added.
