Maranatha Singers  at the Coast

Home Time Out Maranatha Singers  at the Coast

WINDHOEK– The acclaimed Windhoek-based Maranatha Singers close their activities for the year with two concerts tonight and tomorrow night at the Coast.

The Maranatha Singers, after a highly successful concert tour through Europe, are ready to give to the public what they will surely enjoy: Oviritje, Namastap, the OtjiVambo Taya Tanta, among others, and of course, a visual effect of cultural attire that let you realise how much you love the diversity of Namibia. The choir  entertain audiences with songs from Marcellinus Swartbooi, Engelhardt ǂUnaeb, Roger Nautoro and Hans ǂEichab. It is a proudly Namibian programme comprising all cultures and languages, with some of the compositions to be heard for the first time. The programme caters for all tastes, including the Afrikaans langarm dance to the tune of  Jaloersbokkie (jealous lover), which proved  a top favourite with the crowds in Germany.

The choir that received standing ovations in Europe, slotted Swakopmund and Walvis Bay as the venues to end their annual activities. It is the last time that the choir is presenting this programme, titled United in Song. Audiences are promised a highly appealing and entertaining concert programme flavoured with Namibian indigenous artistry, including dance, movement and percussion.

Concert performances are scheduled tonight at the Narraville Primary School Hall in Walvis Bay at 19h30, and Saturday tomorrow night in Swakopmund at the Namib Primary School Aula from 18h00. Tickets for the Walvis Bay concert can be obtained from Christiana Matsuis at 0812436990 or at Oasis Super Market in Narravile.
