Meatco NCA receives HACCP certification from NSI

The Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) Certification Body has awarded Meatco NCA (Pty) Ltd a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification.

This prestigious certification is a testament to the company’s commitment to food safety and quality, reinforcing its position as a leader in Namibia’s meat industry.

The HACCP certification is an internationally-recognised standard for ensuring food safety, and is a key component in food manufacturing and handling processes.

It requires companies to identify, assess and control potential hazards, ensuring that the food products reaching consumers are safe and of the highest quality.

NSI CEO Eino Mvula has expressed his satisfaction. “We are incredibly proud to award Meatco NCA (Pty) Ltd with the
HACCP certification.

This accomplishment demonstrates the company’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of food safety and
quality. At NSI, we are committed to promoting such standards across all
sectors of the Namibian economy, and
Meatco NCA (Pty) Ltd’s success is a shining example of what can be achieved when organisations prioritise excellence”.

The NSI is the national standards entity responsible for the development and promotion of Namibian standards.

Muula further emphasised the importance
of HACCP certification in enhancing consumer confidence, and ensuring that Namibia’s food products meet both national and international standards.

“As the custodian of standards in Namibia, NSI is dedicated to fostering a culture of quality and safety in all industries. The HACCP certification is not just a badge of honour. It is a critical tool in safeguarding public health, and ensuring that our
products are competitive in the global market,” he said.

Meanwhile, the NSI took the opportunity to encourage other companies in the food and beverage industry to follow in Meatco NCA (Pty) Ltd’s footsteps by seeking HACCP/ISO 22000 certification.

The process of certification, while rigorous, brings immense benefits, including
improved operational efficiency, reduced risk of food safety incidents, and enhanced marketability of products.

NSI offers a comprehensive suite of services to assist companies on their journey to certification, including training.

“Our team of experts is equipped to guide organisations through every step of the process, ensuring that they meet the stringent requirements of the HACCP standard, or other standards.

Obtaining HACCP certification is not only about conformity. It is about commitment to continuous improvement, and striving for excellence. We urge all companies in the food sector to take advantage of our services to achieve this important certification,” added the CEO.
