KEETMANSHOOP – Swapo //Kharas regional coordinator Matheus Mumbala minced no words when addressing concerns experienced within government institutions in the region during the party’s first regional executive committee in Keetmanshoop last weekend.
The meeting not only marked the beginning of the committee’s responsibilities but also a renewed commitment to unity, discipline and service delivery to citizens in the region. “I am hereby further calling on all districts whose leadership must be renewed this year to do so without delay and be rest assured that I will not tolerate illegalities during the democratic processes,” Mumbala said.
Turning the attention to the Keetmanshoop Electricity Business Unit, resorting under the town’s municipality, the //Kharas Regional Council, as well as the Oranjemund and Karasburg town councils, he urged the urban and rural development minister, James Sankwasa, to launch investigations and audits for the period from December 2020 until December 2025 to ensure transparency and accountability were carried out accordingly.
He then called on regional council and local authority councillors to unite and collaborate in solving challenges in terms of development and service delivery amicably and in a timely manner.
In her opening remarks, Swapo’s leader assigned to //Kharas, Gaudentia Kröhne, said the party has always been guided by the principles of unity, discipline, hard work and unwavering commitment to the development of the country and the well-being of our people.
“As leaders entrusted with responsibilities within the regional structures of the party, we must carry the duty to ensure that these principles remain alive in everything we do,’’ she added.
Kröhne, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Industries, Mines and Energy, also said, “Our party has travelled a long and historic journey from the days of the liberation struggle to the present era of nation building and economic transformation, and it is therefore our collective responsibility to protect the legacy of our movement while also ensuring that it continues to adapt and respond to the realities of our time.”
