The Namibia Press Agency (Nampa) and the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) signed an agreement to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and foster cooperation.
The signing took place on Friday in Luanda, where the Angola Information and Communication Technology Forum (ANGOTIC) 2025 is underway.
Acting CEO of Nampa Epifanius Jata Kuzee Kazondu highlighted the significance of the agreement.
He said the agreement is important for nurturing and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
He noted that the agreement will facilitate a crucial exchange of news and information, benefitting both nations.
Beyond news dissemination, the agreement outlines collaborative efforts in journalist training and the sharing of technical expertise, particularly in the realm of new and emerging media technologies.
Chairman of the ANGOP board Josué Salusuvã Isaías expressed enthusiasm for the revived partnership.
“We are happy to sign this ANGOP-Nampa agreement to revive the cooperation that existed for many years in the past between the two agencies when ANGOP used to send news articles to Nampa and vice versa,” Isaías noted.
He acknowledged that the previous agreement had been dormant for some time.
Isaías said ANGOP looks forward to benefiting from Nampa’s extensive experience, which will be particularly valuable for its young journalists.
During the same occasion, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA) also signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation and learn from each other.
The Angola ICT Forum, a major international event focusing on information and communication technologies, kicked off on 11 June and concluded on Sunday.
Organised by the Angolan government, it brings together government entities, industry experts and businesses to discuss current and future ICT trends, share knowledge, and foster collaboration.
