NamPower aids Ohangwena schools

OMUTHIYA – The NamPower Foundation on Tuesday handed over a three-classroom block at Titus Ndjaba Combined School, as well as a guardroom and school fence at Oluwaya Combined School in the Epembe constituency of the Ohangwena Region.

The foundation completed the projects at a cost of over N.dollars 1.6 million.
Speaking during the joint handover ceremony on Tuesday, Ohangwena Education Director Isak Hamatwi said the gesture celebrates a partnership rooted in a long-term commitment to the advancement of education in Namibia.

“This is a wise and sustainable investment because we all know that education is, and will always remain, the strong foundation of development,” he said.
Hamatwi said these investments brought visible improvement to the school’s infrastructure, ensures safety to learners and teachers against harsh conditions, and adds dignity to the learning environment of both schools.

“NamPower continues to extend its reach far beyond the urban centres – stretching into rural areas. This act reaffirms that NamPower is indeed an inclusive partner, one that holds all Namibians dear to its heart,” said Hamatwi.

The director further said the growing number of learners in the region has contributed to a shortage of classrooms, emphasising that partnerships like NamPower’s are necessary in meeting the region’s education infrastructural needs.
“The challenges we face in education are numerous, but very surmountable.

Meeting the educational needs of such a large number is a monumental task – one that requires partnerships and collaboration with entities,” he said.

Nampower Foundation Liaison Officer, Sarah Wayiti said: “We believe that education is an important sector, crucial for the empowerment of our future generations, hence our commitment to meeting our government halfway in the improvement of school infrastructure.”

“NamPower undertakes to continue investing in the socio-economic development of our communities for as long as resources allow,” she said, while urging the surrounding community, the learners, and the dedicated educators to maintain the infrastructure with care for the preservation of current and future generations.
