EENHANA- The National Housing Enterprises (NHE) has committed to construct 100 houses in Eenhana to a value of N$7.4 million.
Yesterday, Eenhana Town Council officially handed over a site to NHE at Extension 10.
The houses will be build by contractors Tona Trade Holdings CC and Danny’s Building Construction CC in a joint venture with FKN Investments CC.
Manager for infrastructure development at NHE, Indileni Set-Sam Iipinge, said this initiative is not just another project, but it is a direct response to the housing demand for lowincome earners, the very citizens who need affordable shelter the most.
“This project will commence on 16 February 2026 and run over a period of five calendar months, excluding the builders’ holiday. The expected completion date is 30 June 2026. By then, we expect to have created approximately 100,” he stressed.
He said that jobs, providing income and skills development opportunities to residents, are something that remains a key pillar of their work.
“This development is especially significant because the last major NHE project in Eenhana was in 2015, when we serviced land and constructed 284 houses at a cost of N$80 million,” he added.
Iipinge further stressed that today, more than a decade later, they return to continue that legacy and to reaffirm NHE’s presence and commitment in the Ohangwena region.
He added that this project is also aligned with the government’s national development priorities, particularly the housing and infrastructure pillars under NDP6, which call for accelerated delivery and innovative approaches.
Also speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the mayor of Eenhana Town, Omri-Onn Kavandje, emphasised that contractors should recruit local people, especially in positions where they are qualified and deserving.
“By doing so, this project will not only provide shelter but also create jobs, build skills, and strengthen the economic fabric of our community. As mayor, I am proud to witness this milestone, confident that these homes will empower families to live, grow, and contribute to the development of Eenhana,” he said.
