POEM – RUN from your ego

Immanuel Kairimuti

RUN from your ability not to let go

RUN like a fugitive

RUN like this dissonance is cognitive

RUN even when your legs are giving in

RUN from sentiments that are mentally diminishing

RUN cause only you can tell the difference

RUN until you start crawling

RUN with your body to the floor and keep going

RUN from the pretty women

RUN cause the love is money-driven

RUN from panhandling for coins

RUN cause you don’t see the point

RUN so you don’t sit in a cell

RUN like a turtle without its shell

RUN even if it means slowly but surely

RUN from the court and the jury

RUN from poverty

RUN cause this life is a monopoly

RUN away from the dice roll

RUN only towards the payroll

RUN from power misuse

RUN from emotional abuse

RUN more than the legs can take

RUN to the realisation of what’s real and what’s fake

RUN from reverse psychology

RUN from the one who can’t forgive or take an apology

RUN from her

RUN towards her

RUN cause looks are deceiving

RUN from giving and not receiving

RUN cause she’s uncertain

RUN so you don’t carry her burdens

RUN with scarred feet

RUN cause you can’t accept defeat

RUN cause dominance is what you obtain

RUN cause there’s no point to prove or anything to gain

RUN from friendships that aren’t loyal

RUN because behind your back, they talk dirt about you

RUN cause you know where you’re running to

It’s either they run with you or run from you.
