Home National Gunners out to cement perfect run…as netball league ramps up

Action in the MTC Namibia Netball Premier League (NNPL) will continue this weekend, starting with today’s matches between Mighty Gunners and Tigers, and Afrocat Lions against Otjozondjupa NamPol. Both games will take place at the United courts in the capital.

Gunners will today be out to further cement their strong grip on proceedings at the summit of the league table and a possible win against an unpredictable Tigers could go a long way in bolstering their league title ambitions.

Speaking to this publication yesterday, Gunners’ representative Desire Namases said winning today’s match is top of their agenda as they have prepared well for the weekend’s battles. She said the aim is to remain unbeaten and on top of the log.

“It is a very crucial weekend for us as a team, but we remain ready for the upcoming challenging matches. It will not be easy because all teams are trying to beat and stop our run, so we have to stick to our game plan – as we have been doing – until the end of the season. We have told our players to keep the momentum as we can’t afford to slip up,” she said.

In tomorrow’s clashes at Windhoek’s Patrick Iyambo College, Namibia Correctional Services (NCS) will square off against Otjozondjupa NamPol, while Grootfontein Netball Club will take on Tigers.

Gunners will again be on the court tomorrow when they take on the Navy Netball Club before Afrocat Lions conclude the day’s proceedings with a tie against Rebels.

Action will continue at the Patrick Iyambo College on Sunday with only two matches: Gunners vs Rebels and the Navy team against Otjozondjupa NamPol.
