Soulful and jazz sensation Sharon van Rooi has created an ambiance and a platform for budding as well as established artists to sing their hearts out.
The music lecturer’s idea comes from the experience of being in an industry where there are few opportunities presented to performers. Hence, she has availed her eatery Craft Café Bellissima as the perfect platform.
“It can be a taxing thing for artists to nurture their art and I am proud of her for starting the Saturday Night Live. At the moment, it’s hosted every second Saturday but from September, it will be every Saturday,” said Lize Ehlers who has teamed up with van Rooi by providing a sound system for the gig.
Ehlers told VIBEZ! this is their way of giving back to the creative industry, and performance community because the team knows what it takes to navigate through the industry.
“This also directly links to what I started 12 years ago with Song Night Namibia. All that this means is providing platforms for performers to gain experience. It’s wonderful to always coordinate these performances every Saturday night and they are usually free entry unless it’s an experienced performer where we have a cover charge,” she added.
She said it’s a phenomenal new and beautiful event on the calendar that music enthusiasts should not miss.
