Spread as much happiness, love!

Home Youth Corner Spread as much happiness, love!

Once again, it is that time of the year when most of us put our working caps, books, computers and boots aside to spend time with our beloved ones.

We travel to our places of origin to be around our families and friends, be it the south, the east, the north, somewhere along the coast or across the borders. I love the festive season so much, I wish it would last for three good months! I am talking about wedding ceremonies, family get-togethers, community parties, and those with means even fly away to beautiful places around the world for some lone time. There is just a special breeze of love and happiness during the festive season that I believe everyone should feel and enjoy.

It was a long year of ups and downs, and sometimes we gave up, sometimes we felt great and the next we were exhausted. We all have had different and personal experiences during the year that can greatly affect how we feel during the festive season. Some have reasons to celebrate, some feel the year was not worth celebrating, and some cannot even acknowledge that it is festive seasons. Whatever state of mind or attitude you choose, you will not be prosecuted because you have a reason for that. But if you are part of the team that is not up for the festive fun, I am here to poke you a little and convince you otherwise. I am sorry for whatever happened during the year but we have to move past it, especially with the New Year coming up. This time of the year we should look back and be grateful for what we have achieved, what we have learnt and appreciate making it through. If you have not achieved anything, then you have learnt something. Life is about learning how to be better and strong despite the never-ending challenges. Join a group of rejoicing people, it can be friends, family, community members, a congregation , and have a good year-end.

If you have had a good year on the other hand, you should be grateful. Share your gratitude and blessing with those t less fortune or those who have had a rough year. You can give away some of your old belongings to someone who needs them, you can help someone clean their house, teach some children songs, pray with someone, whatever you can offer. It does not have to be monetary or material. It can be a small card or letter to someone you care about. Believe me, no matter how little you think your offering is, someone will highly appreciate it. That is the spirit of Christmas and New Year.

Do not drink and drive, not just for your safety but for other road users too. Let us take care of ourselves and these around u. I wish you guys a blessed and joyful festive season. Spread as much happiness and love as you can.
