The construction of a new Social Security Commission office at Otjiwarongo will not only serve the town’s inhabitants, but will also extend the commission’s services and overall footprint to other five towns within the Otjozondjupa region.
This was shared by the SSC’s board chairperson Dawid /Uirab during last Thursday’s official launch of the construction of the commission’s office at Otjiwarongo, where he emphasised that the new office will help shine a light in areas where social protection of employees and other basic rights are not protected.
“The establishment of this office in Otjiwarongo holds immense significance, as it serves as a hub for not only the town itself but also five other towns in the surrounding area. These include Outjo, Khorixas, Kamanjab, Okakarara and Kalkveld, where we have a significant number of active registered employees, employers and other interest groups. With a combined tally of close to 60 000 registered active employees and employers, these communities rely on the services and support provided by the SSC,” said /Uirab.
“One of our primary objectives as the SSC is to extend coverage to the uncovered, ensuring that social security protection is accessible to all Namibians. The opening of this office in Otjiwarongo marks a significant step towards achieving this goal. By bringing our services closer to these communities, we are bridging the gap and creating opportunities for individuals who may not have had access to social security coverage before.
“This expansion aligns with our commitment to inclusivity and our dedication to reaching every corner of our great nation. With this office, we can enhance service delivery by providing easier access to information, faster processing of claims and personalised assistance for our beneficiaries. We are constantly striving to innovate and improve our processes to meet the evolving needs of those we serve,” he added.
Also speaking at the launch was Otjiwarongo mayor Gottlieb Shivute, who underscored the economic and social importance of such an office in the region, especially its strategic intend to cover six major towns.
“The establishment of the Social Security Commission office in Otjiwarongo will undoubtedly contribute to the well-being of our community by ensuring the provision of essential social security services to our residents. This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to building a more inclusive and prosperous Otjiwarongo.
“Your investment in our region is deeply appreciated, and we look forward to the positive impact it will have on the lives of our people. This project represents a vital investment in our town’s infrastructure, fostering economic growth and creating new opportunities for our people,” stated Shivute.
