Strauss’ passing leaves void at NEF

The Namibia Employer’s Federation (NEF) has confirmed the passing of their secretary general Daan Strauss, who passed away on 10 January 2023 after a prolonged illness.

The charismatic Strauss, who was always available to share his views with the media, was appointed as secretary general of the NEF in 2020. Since his appointment, he was steadfastly leading and transitioning the federation during the difficult and trying times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Strauss had been a valued member of the NEF and will be highly missed. He leaves behind his wife, three children and one grandchild.

We send our heartfelt condolences to the Strauss family during this difficult time. Further information about the funeral proceedings will be communicated in due time,” read a statement from NEF board chairman Terence Makari.

The NEF was the first-ever established employer’s organisation in Namibia, representing over 5 000 employers. The federation has cemented itself as the voice of Namibian employers at government and international levels.

The NEF has a nationwide reach, and it assists all employers from all 14 regions of the country.

NEF members benefit from the advocacy and lobbying on policies and regulations that govern employers on behalf of members locally and internationally.
