By Petronella Sibeene WINDHOEK A SIX-MEMBER male Accapella group, VM6, formerly known as the Breath of Truth will together with the Portnolloth youth choir host an extraordinary show at the NTN this Sunday. Leader of the group Peter Chizyuka says the group recently signed a contract with one of the very few reputable, if not the greatest music management company in the country, Kool Productions. At the show, they promise not just Accapella musical expressions. “We are really going to show our people that we are destined to take music to the next level,” stated the group leader. The repertoire for VM6 reflects an array of musical styles such as ballads, R& B, reggae, do-wop, and Accapella jazz. However, contemporary gospel music, their forte, is the primary avenue through which their harmonies blend and appeal to diverse audiences. VM6 commitment to music is exemplified in their team spirit, dedication and discipline. The skills in vocals and musical arrangements are self-taught and a product of creative collaboration. According to Chizyuka, the group’s commitment to social change is demonstrated through a mutually embraced goal to produce “music with a message” with the aim to inspire other young Namibians, adults and Africa at large. The group has received several awards since it came into being. Currently, “we are working on an album where we will feature Zwai Bala, jazz singer Temba Mukize, and the famous South African musician, Doctor Victor”.
