NamWater has notified Walvis Bay companies and residents that the town’s water supply has been temporarily disrupted by a power outage in the Kuiseb area.
At 9h00 this morning, NamWater’s Kuiseb Artisans team reported a power outage and upon investigation, it was confirmed that the outage originated from ErongoRED, NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata said in a statement.
NamWater then immediately informed ErongoRED and their team has since been working around the clock to identify and resolve the issue.
“As a result of this outage, NamWater is currently unable to replenish the reservoir that supplies Walvis Bay, as all boreholes remain without power,” he said.
Ndamanomhata assured that once power is restored, NamWater will immediately restart all boreholes to resume normal water supply.
“In the meantime, we urge the public to use water sparingly until the issue is resolved,” he said.
