Woman killed over cheating allegations

Woman killed over cheating allegations

A 29-year-old woman, Angelina Shatilwe, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend after he heard talk at a local cuca shop that she was cheating on him.

The incident occurred last week in Oshuundje village in the Omusati region.

The man, identified as Mika Mundjekela (29), allegedly fled to Olunkava village, where he later committed suicide by hanging from a tree.

According to Deputy Commissioner Zachariah Amakali, the couple had been living together and soon after Mundjekela heard of the cheating allegations against Shatilwe from one of the villagers, he rushed to their home.

“They started arguing and eventually, he took a stick and hit her on head,” he narrated.

Shatilwe died on the spot in front of her minor children who witnessed the alleged assault. Amakali said after an hour, Mundjekela’s body was discovered near a cuca shops. Neighbours expressed shock over the incident, saying the couple had never argued or fought before.

“They always wore similar T-shirts as a couple and they were a peaceful couple,” Amakali said.

Police urged couples to always seek help from social workers and pastors instead of fighting as this might result in murder.

Police investigations into the issue are continuing. – fhamalwa@nepc.com.na
