Ya Toivo’s long birthday bash winds up

Home National Ya Toivo’s long birthday bash winds up

Icon …The 90th birthday celebrations and commemorations of struggle hero Andimba Toivo ya Toivo (centre), held throughout the country for more than a year, came to an official close yesterday as final reports were handed to him by the organising committee chairman Helmut Angula. After verifying the books an independent accountant indicated that N$93 100 was collected and deposited in an account at a local bank, while N$1 000 was deposited in a Nampost account in Ya Toivo’s name. Helmut Angula, on the left, hands over a photo album, reports and DVD collections of the various celebratory events while Dr Kaire Mbuende, one of the organising committee members, looks on.  Ya Toivo expressed his gratitude to all Namibians who made a contribution. A full biography of the revolutionary legend will be released later this year.
