Yewe’s educational album set to inspire youth

Yewe’s educational album set to inspire youth

Iuze Mukube

Yewe, the dynamic duo that captured hearts with their passionate lyrics and beautiful harmonies on their debut album, are back with a new sound and a motivational message.

The second album was released last week, and the combo comprises Ndaudonya Fillipus (29), also known as Monya, and his brother Phillipus Kalomho Fillipus (20), stage name King Romzo. The brothers are changing gears with this album, which is full of messages about the need for education and self-improvement.

Monya stated the album is all about motivation, and educating people of all age groups.

“We emphasise the importance of education, and how it should be prioritised by all sectors of our economy,” he said. The album is titled ‘Shakufange Momtumba’, meaning What Made Me Stand Up, Should Be Chased, which transcends love and ambition to provide a strong anthem for personal growth.

Well-known for their last album’s songs that inspired the youth to love deeply and hustle hard, the second project has something important to say, regardless of whether you are a parent, a young professional or a high school student. Learning from their debut album, the duo stated this album is a stepping-stone away from the first, which was more an experimental one.

“We put more effort, corrected the mistakes we made in the first album, and we have a few features from local artists like Zomblam, Longizo and others,” they said.

A smiling King Romzo voiced most fans made compliments on track 13, ‘Ovadali’ featuring Zomblam, track 10 ‘Education’ and track 12 ‘Omutekuli’, and that these three are the most-loved hits so far. Their biggest message is, people should never let their dreams pass by. “Educate yourself, try harder every day, work harder every day dream bigger every day and share with others.”

The album highlights that everyone requires knowledge in order to realise their full potential because knowledge is power.

Crucially, the release of this album coincides with the country’s heated conversations about education reform and youth empowerment.

The artists recommend the album to all Namibians, stating the whole album is priced at N$150.00. Moreover, they encourage everyone to participate in creating an atmosphere where education is valued and accessible. Therefore, the soundtracks will uplift your mood, inspire you to pursue your goals, and serve as a reminder of the importance of knowledge.
