…thinks highly of Hamutenya

WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors mentor Ricardo Mannetti yesterday announced changes to the squad that was called-up earlier for an international friendly match against Mozambique at the Windhoek Independence Stadium next Tuesday.

Omitted from the new call-up are Da Costa Angula, Eslin Kamuhanga, Riaan Cloete, Larry Horaeb, Tangeni Shipahu and goalkeeper Gernot Spath, while midfielder Lazarus Kaimbi is also a doubtful starter in next week Tuesday’s encounter. The absenteeism of the abovementioned players is due to a series of nagging injuries, as well as club and personal commitments. Mannetti has roped in the services of strikers Jerome Louis and Sadney Urikhob to fill existing gaps, but assured fans that not even the black cloud of injuries that has hit his camp will dampen the spirits of his charges. He said with the likes of veteran in-form striker Henrico Botes, captain Stigga Ketjijere, Petrus Shitembi, Neville Tjiueza and little-known defender Miguel Hamutenya, whom Mannetti described as a highly talented player who instinctively understands the basics of the game, a good result against the Mambas of Mozambique can be expected.

Another notable absentee is Hansa Rostock workaholic midfield ace Manfred Starke, whom Mannetti said would be considered in future matches, since the Warriors technical team is currently busy trying out new tactics and combinations with the current players. He added that the team’s midfield position is overcrowded with all the country’s top players and it is therefore imperative to give everyone equal an opportunity, while maintaining consistency.
