WINDHOEK – A sponsorship agreement for the 2013 Learn to Swim initiative was recently signed in the capital.

Dixon Norval, head of strategic marketing and communications at FNB Namibia and Janis Stergiadis of the Dolphins Swimming Club signed the deal

Supporting this annual event for the fourth consecutive year, the FNB Namibia Foundation pledged an amount of N$50 000 this year as sponsorship. The event takes place on October 16 and 17.

Said Norval: “Learn to Swim has always been one of our favourite sponsorships as the children who partake are always eager and willing and give it their all during the two days. This year we are particularly excited as a new focus will incorporate previously disadvantaged children at the two municipal swimming pools in Olympia and Katutura.”

Norval said that development of sport is one of the focus areas of the FNB Foundation. “We support sport events on a national level and on a level where youngsters are shown the ropes and where they simply enjoy the sport without any added stress of performance. It also gives youngsters a chance to ascertain if they like the sport or not and wish to take it further.”
