THE national youth team currently on tour in, Accra, Ghana has won two and lost one of their  matches thus far while the youngsters have been graced with the presence of the revered international footballer Marcel Desailly.

The NFA despacthed a mixture of Under-20 and Under-17 players to Accra, and according to team manager Jakes Amaning the team has won two of their friendly matches, while losing to a Premier league club.

The youth team  managed to beat the first division sides of Zebras FC 2-0 and Dreams FC 1-0 with Tura Magic player Salom Pam netting a hat trick via well taken free-kicks.

The Namibians lost 4-2 against Inter Allias FC from the Ghanaian Premier League, with Glen Kamutjete and Orlando Pirates striker Terdius Uiseb on the score-sheet for the visitors in a game that saw Black Africa’s midfielder Willy Stephanus missing a penalty.

Amaning also revealed that former French captain Marcel Desailly has been with the boys on three different occasions, talking to them about discipline and the importance of professionalism if they were to stay at the highest level for long periods as well as taking the youngsters through training sessions.

“The team is very blessed to have him, while other former and curent internationals will join the squad to share their experiences and talk to the boys on how to be exemplary footballers. The tour so far has proved a huge success and we are looking for more cooperation with many more former footballers,” Amaning explained.

Desailly, born Odenke Abbey (September 7 1968) is a retired Ghanaian-born French footballer who won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the Euro 2000 with France. He also enjoyed a distinguished playing career at club level with major European clubs, such as Marseille, AC Milan and Chelsea in 1998 where he captained the London outfit until the end of the 2003-2004 season.
