Namibian Dan Tshanda, Patricia Majalisa and the Slakos are featuring on compilation Album, Undiscovered Africa, which has been produced by the Bristol based music label Africantunz Records.

Africantunz is an African, Caribbean and World Music label project that is helping fund and promote music and upcoming artists from all over Africa on social media. It has helped push and promote many genres and African artists and established upcoming brands. Slow Kahoro, member of the Splakos group,  says Africantunz chose them to feature in the Undiscovered Africa album. “Being part of the project was a dream come true for all upcoming artist as Splakos we really learn a lot from other artists,” he says.

The compilation album consist of 15 tracks featuring upcoming artists from all over Africa including Nigeria, Rwanda, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The Namibians feature on Track 6,  Township Disc, produced by  Dan featuring Disco artists such as of Lecas, Splakos, Lady Jacky, Vapako,Aquilla and Ua2ngua and Track 9, Lies, by Splakos ft Kaamberua.

“Track 6 is a Township Disco were we talk more about the Township Disco genre itself. We united to bring the genre in recognition of the Disco artist to be part of our very own Namas as Township Disco genre on its own, not mixed with Afro Pop artists,” explains Kahoro adding that Track 9, Lies, is about a man always promising his partner the world but always does the opposite. “The woman decided to leave and start living by herself,” explains Kahoro further.

He adds that the project has connected with a lot of African artists and they plan on going international.  Tom Wardle, owner of Africantunz Records, says they have selected the best of unreleased songs that represents the culture of Africa.  Experience the unique and undiscovered sounds brought to you on this compilation including Afro Pop, House, Reggae, Afro Disco, Gospel, Hip Hop and more. “I fell in love with the Afro-Disco music when I visited many of the townships on my travels over the years. It’s a combination of African folk music with a disco edge. It’s full of energy and you can’t help but enjoy the music. It’s a great mix showcasing some music that people from the UK and Europe wouldn’t normally get to hear,” says Wardle.
