Namibian cricketer Eveleen Kejarukua is scheduled to leave for the United Kingdom today to play for Flitwick Cricket Club until September.
Speaking to New Era Sport on Tuesday, the 29-year-old right-handed batter and right-arm medium bowler said she was excited at being given another opportunity to showcase her talent overseas.
This is the second time she will be playing cricket in England, following a similar stint last year where she turned out for East Huntspill Cricket Club in Somerset.
“Based on my performances last year, the club asked me to return, and I am excited to be going back. This is really exciting for me,” she said.
She said she feels very comfortable playing cricket in England and is looking forward to playing and learning more about the sport.
Locally, she represents the Zebra Women’s Cricket team.
She made her Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) debut for Namibia on 23 August 2018, against Lesotho, in the 2018 Botswana Cricket Association Women’s T20I Series.
She has gone on to accumulate 13 caps for Namibia.
Her batting figures last year were 13 innings played in 15 matches, scoring 150 runs, and stayed not out in one match.
Her top score was 45 not out, and she averaged 12.50 runs a match while managing 20 fours, zero sixes, and a single duck.
She bowled 61 overs and conceded 299 runs with seven maidens while taking 11 wickets.
Fielding-wise, she took five catches and had three run-outs.
