OTJIWARONGO – A 15-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his family home at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region on Sunday.

The victim was identified by his relatives as Fabian Kariue, a Grade 10 learner at Otjiwarongo Senior Secondary School.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) detective chief inspector Timotheus Gabriel told Nampa the victim was home alone when his grandfather and older sister went to town. 

“Upon their return, they found that he had locked the front door. He was found hanging from a door with a scarf around his neck when the family gained entry to the house,” he said.

No suicide note was left behind, and no foul play is suspected thus far.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
