Air Connect welcomes Proflight to HKIA

Air Connect Namibia has welcomed Proflight Zambia’s new three-times-per-week scheduled service between Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH). The new service, which will operate via Livingstone’s Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI), is set to commence from 3 March 2026.

This service is scheduled to operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The route is expected to enhance tourism, trade and investment between Namibia and Zambia, two of southern Africa’s most vibrant and growing economies. Zambia is one of Windhoek’s largest African origin-destination (OD) markets, with an estimated 10 000 two-way international passengers in 2024, representing a 14% increase compared to 2023.

“We warmly welcome Proflight Zambia to Namibia and congratulate them on this timely and vital regional route,” said Bisey /Uirab, chief executive officer of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) and spokesperson for Air Connect Namibia. “The new route is more than a connection between two countries, it is a powerful catalyst for regional integration, economic synergy and deeper ties between the people of Southern Africa.”

The service is set to cater to business and leisure travellers by offering seamless direct access between the three dynamic destinations, unlocking exciting new regional tourism circuits that showcase Southern Africa’s cultural richness and natural beauty. Lusaka and Windhoek are rapidly emerging as leading aviation hubs, fuelling greater connectivity and regional cooperation across the SADC region. In addition, Livingstone provides travellers with convenient access to the iconic Victoria Falls.

Beyond tourism, the route is anticipated to act as a vital economic artery, stimulating bilateral trade and cross-border investment. By strengthening ties between two of the region’s most promising economic hubs, the route lays the foundation for deeper commercial partnerships and regional value chain development.

Air Connect Namibia further stated that the route announcement aligns with the mandate and strategy of the organisation, to increase air accessibility and promote Namibia as a regional aviation hub.

The project is the result of ongoing collaboration between public and private stakeholders, including the NAC, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Gondwana Collection, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Walvis Bay Corridor Group, Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), and the City of Windhoek.
