KEETMANSHOOP- Six more members of the Namibian Police Special Reserve Force, based in Keetmanshoop have been added as suspects to the matter related to the murder of local resident, Elleste ‘Speedy’ Plaatjies.
This follows a decision by the Office of the Prosecutor General on the matter. They appeared in the Keetmanshoop magistrate’ s court on Friday.
New Era previously reported that Plaatjies died from serious injuries inflicted upon him after being allegedly assaulted brutally during January 2023 by two other officers, Bernard Mulisa and Wilibardt Neshuku, who serve in the same Namibian Police division.
The case against the duo was however withdrawn previously by the State due to incomplete police investigations, but they were now added back as accused persons. The other six officers, Vaino Ausiku, Maria Nakale, Samuel Epafras, Immanuel Kamati, Piet Kenamuinjo, and Hilia Vilho were accordingly charged with counts of murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and defeating the course of justice.
Magistrate Agatha Okamaru then remanded the matter to 2 March 2026 for reasons of legal representation and plea, whilst all eight accused are free on warnings.
