Since last Friday, police in the Erongo region have arrested four suspects in Walvis Bay in connection with drug possession.
Erongo police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula, said the arrests form part of ongoing intelligence-led operations targeting drug networks in the coastal town.
“The Namibian Police in Erongo region have intensified operations against drug dealers. These arrests send a strong warning to those involved in the distribution and sale of illegal substances that we are closing in on them,” she said.
The biggest seizure was made on Tuesday after police received information of a suspect dealing in drugs in Astronaut Street in Walvis Bay.

He allegedly dropped two small ziplock bags of crack cocaine when he noticed the police.
“A search led to the seizure of 80 blocks and units of crack cocaine in various sizes, scrambles of crack cocaine and one gram of cannabis, with a total value of N$16 400. The man appeared in court this week,” Shomongula continued.

She warned that the police are hard at work to make sure drug dealers are dealt with and face the full might of the law.
She then appealed to the community to continue sharing information with the police that would lead to more arrests.
“We appreciate the public for the accurate information shared with the police. Community involvement remains one of our strongest tools in combating crime and social disorder,” she said.
