ONGUTI — There were smiles and cheers at Onguti Secondary School on Friday when the Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP) officially handed over 10 new computers worth over N$160 000.

Speaking at the event, NIP representative Beata Hangula said NIP decided to help following the school’s request on 14 May 2024.

The school’s old computers were broken, which hampered teaching and learning.

“NIP’s main work is medical tests, but we know that strong health systems need strong communities. Education is the base of strong communities,” Hangula said.

On her part, Oshikoto education director Hilma Nuunyango-George thanked NIP for the donation.

“Today, the world uses a lot of technology. Our learners must have the right tools and skills to succeed,” Nuunyango-George said. “These computers will make learning and teaching better. Government cannot do everything alone. We need partners like NIP to help our schools.”

She said mid-term exams are happening now, and she hopes the computers will be used right away to help learners get good results. The directorate will also provide technical help to ensure the computers are connected to the internet and working well. She also asked the school to take good care of the computers so they can be used for many years.

School headmaster Salomo Ndeyamunye ya Ndeshimona also expressed gratitude.

“We sincerely thank NIP for this generous contribution. This shows how important partnerships are in educating a Namibian child holistically. Education is a shared responsibility,”Ya Ndeshimona said.
