Namibia’s boxing pride is bracing for a defining moment as Paulinus ‘John-John’ Ndjolonimus prepares to step into hostile territory for a blockbuster showdown against Denmark’s unbeaten champion Jacob Banks this Saturday.

Veteran promoter Nestor Tobias has warned that the bout will be no walk in the park, but insists his fighter is ready for war.

“It will be a tough one, but we are ready. We landed safely, and preparations are going well,” said Tobias from Denmark, where the camp has already settled in ahead of the high-stakes encounter.

The clash pits two in-form fighters against each other, with the coveted WBO Global Super Middleweight title and a WBC world title eliminator hanging in the balance, making it one of the biggest fights involving a Namibian boxer in recent years.

Ndjolonimus enters the ring as the WBO Africa Super Middleweight Champion and currently sits seventh in the World Boxing Organisation rankings. The hard-hitting Namibian boasts an impressive record of 20 wins and just one defeat and sees this fight as his gateway to the global elite.

Standing in his way is the dangerous and undefeated Banks, who holds a perfect 18-0 record. Banks is not only the reigning WBO Global Super Middleweight Champion but is also ranked third by the WBO and fourth by the World Boxing Council, underlining the magnitude of the challenge awaiting Ndjolonimus.

With both fighters eyeing a shot at world title contention, Saturday’s bout carries massive implications for their careers and for Namibia’s growing reputation in international boxing circles.

For Ndjolonimus, the mission is clear. “To be the best, you need to beat the best, and this is an opportunity I’m grabbing with both hands,” he said.  The confident boxer also extended gratitude to his sponsors, including MTC and core backer Pstbet, whose support has been instrumental in his journey.
