The weekend’s crime report was predominantly marked by high incidents of attempted murder, suicide, housebreaking cases and stock theft.

Attempted murder

At the DRC location in Swakopmund, it is alleged that an unknown suspect stabbed a 26-year-old man in the neck for unknown reasons. 

The suspect is still at large.

It is further alleged that a 37-year-old man was found unconscious after he was stabbed in the neck with a pen during an altercation between him and the suspect at Harambee location in Otavi. 

The victim is receiving treatment at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.

In Lüderitz, it is alleged that a 27-year-old man was stabbed twice after he allegedly refused to share his cigarette with the suspect. 

The victim was taken to the Lüderitz State Hospital and is in a stable condition.

On Saturday, a 36-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg after he allegedly attempted to attack a club owner with a knife, prompting the shooting.

Suicide

Police reported that the body of a 24-year-old man was found by a passerby lying on the beach.

 It is further alleged that Rafael Haingura died by suicide, shooting himself in the head. 

He was found with his pistol in his hand.

On Saturday at Omalambo village, it is alleged that a 43-year-old woman, identified as Mwaulange Hailonga, died by suicide after hanging herself.

In Okuryangava, Windhoek, a 48-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with a firearm. 

The deceased is identified as Abisai Tutaleni Kamkuemah.

In another incident, a 57-year-old man was struck by lightning while walking with his daughter and three dogs. 

The deceased is identified as Charles Henry Gawaseb.

Housebreaking

In Pioneerspark, suspects gained entry into a house through a window and removed valuable items worth N$225 000. 

At Brakwater, suspects gained entry into a house through an open door, and stole property valued at N$69 300.

Rape

On Friday, at about 17h50 at Onainghete village, it is alleged that a suspect raped a five-year-old girl. 

The suspect has been arrested.

Stock theft

At Farm Belda in Noordoewer, it is alleged that suspects unlawfully and intentionally drove onto the farm and slaughtered a cow without the owner’s consent.

Drugs

Police operations led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man, who was found in possession of cannabis and mandrax tablets in Groot-Aub. 

In another incident, a 27-year-old man was arrested during a stop-and-search operation after he was found in possession of 40 grams of cannabis valued at N$2 000.
