GOBABIS –  Gobabis was resplendent in Swapo colours of blue, red and green as thousands of supporters flocked to the Legare Stadium to attend the Swapo rally on Saturday with some singing ‘In Hage we trust.’

The rally, addressed by the Swapo Party presidential candidate Dr Hage Geingob was also attended by scores of cabinet ministers, chief executive officers and prominent business people.
The rally started at 11am with close to 50 cars and mini-busses but most notably Geingob’s official campaign bus driving through the town, street by street.
In his address, Geingob said there were no reasons why people should not vote for Swapo.
Geingob said when the South African apartheid regime didn’t want to hand back Namibia and the United Nations failed to deliver Namibia, Swapo said “we are going to cross many rivers of blood to liberate Namibia”.
“Swapo delivered, Swapo delivered, Omake … Omake,” he told thousands of party supporters at the Legare Stadium.
“Swapo delivered and we can move everywhere, live anywhere. The press is free and they can talk and write what they want and the police who were known as Koevoet are now your friends, Swapo delivered,” he said.
Geingob however reminded supporters that building a nation is not an overnight job but a process that takes some time.
“When you build your own house you must first build a foundation – then you have to pour concrete, then you use bricks to put up your wall, then you finish by plastering and then painting it,” he said, adding this is the same way Swapo is building the Namibian nation.
He said problems are still there – “but if you look everywhere in Namibia there are tarred roads everywhere. Look at the Otjinene to Grootfontein road in your area.”
However, he said: “People are still poor, we still have children taught under trees, not good hospital service, but these are problems even advanced countries are struggling with.”
He quoted the Founding Father Dr Sam Nujoma, saying “we are entering the second phase of the struggle, the struggle for economic emancipation”.
“Swapo Party is the only party that can lead the country towards achieving victory in the second phase of the struggle for economic independence,” stressed the Swapo Party presidential candidate.
“For continuation vote for Swapo Party. Comrade Nujoma laid the foundation for peace and stability, Comrade Pohamba maintained peace, therefore don’t take peace for granted,” he added.
