… TN  Mobile reaffirms multi-million backing

WINDHOEK – Upon officially receiving the TN Mobile CAF Women’s Championship Trophy in Windhoek yesterday, Armando Perny, Telecom’s Chief Mobile Officer, reaffirmed the telecommunication company’s multi-million dollar investment in the football spectacle.

Perny could not heap enough praise on the NFA president John Muinjo for taking the bold step of bringing the continental showpiece to Namibia. “Besides the massive investment, the competition will be a stepping stone for TN Mobile to expand its footprint into the global communication market, particularly in Africa, and we are very proud to be associated with CAF, NFA and the whole football family.”

He added: “Hosting the championship will not only serve as a platform to market TN Mobile but it’s also the appropriate opportunity to market Namibia as country and prove to the world that we are capable of hosting international events of any magnitude.”

In doubling its efforts to ensure the smooth hosting of the women’s championship, Telecom have sealed numerous network roaming agreements with various participating nations, to ensure all media personnel covering the games have direct access to their native newsrooms for the latest updates and submission of fresh news articles.

In addition, Telecom will also deploy world class internet facilities at both venues, the Sam Nujoma and Independence stadiums, in an effort to ensure network signals are adequately strong to accommodate all and sundry in attendance on match days.

An estimated CAF delegation of 60 officials and 30 referees will attend the event.

On his part, Namibian football supremo, John Muinjo, reiterated his call for all Namibians to take ownership of the upcoming women’s championship by attending all the games in large numbers.

“We have managed to convince the whole of Africa that Namibia is capable of hosting such an event, so it’s now up to all Namibians to attend the games en masse and prove to the whole of Africa out there that we are worth hosting competitions of international standard.”
