Epic rugby final on the cards this weekend

Home Sports Epic rugby final on the cards this weekend

WINDHOEK – With the final of the Namibia Rugby Premiership set for this weekend, scintillating weekend of nothing but fierce rugby action can be expected when Wanderers Rugby Club confronts suburban rivals and equally dangerous opponents, United Rugby Club at the Hage Geingob Stadium, tomorrow.

As for United, it has been exactly five years since the Olympia-based outfit has not lifted the domestic rugby league trophy and this weekend’s clash will serve as an ideal opportunity for United to rewrite the history books by hopefully beating Wanderers and finally lifting the trophy.

But judging from last weekend’s performance that saw United wallop past defending champions Western Suburbs with a 37-32 victory, Wanderers will face a stern test from the highly determined Olympia outfit but all cannot be taken away from Wanderers who reached the final in astounding fashion.

Conversely, Wanderers are equally facing a similar predicament as they too have not managed to scoop league silverware in more the four years and that scenario could be the determining factor when action gets underway this weekend.

Again looking at the statistics, both teams have every reason to go out there and run their socks down, as a win or lose for either team will go a long way in defining the future prospects of both teams, given their long absence from the top chain of local rugby.
