Standard Bank Namibia will hand over a total of N$102 000-00 to Top Taxi by the end of 2014, with drivers being nominated in this weekly competition and announced in the media.

To date, Standard Bank Namibia handed over a weekly cash prize of N$3000-00 to four 2014 Top Taxi Project finalists. They are: Jesaja Shiikwa, Petrus Shipingana, Paulus Dumeni and Martin Nakathila.

“It is with great delight that Standard Bank Namibia is sponsoring the Top Taxi Project of 2014 for a period of 34 weeks, which commenced on 18 April and ends  5 December 2014. Standard Bank Namibia is proud to be associated with the worthy cause of road safety awareness amongst taxis in order to minimise road accidents and ultimately save lives,” says Surihe Gaoma-Guchu, Public Relations and Communications Manager at Standard Bank Namibia. The final event for awarding the Top Taxi Driver will be held on 9 December 2014.

“Taxis are the main mode of transport in most towns in Namibia and the drivers carry the responsibility for bringing people safely to their destinations. Therefore, taxi drivers have an important role to play in our community and that is why as a bank we saw the need to get involved in this road safety awareness project,” says Gaomas-Guchu.

“I’m very happy about the project and I hope I will also be a top taxi winner soon,” says Kauluma Paulus. “I will definitely use my money for fixing my taxi and also paying off my debts adds Jesaja Shiikwa, one of the weekly Top Taxi winners so far.
