WINDHOEK – With the first netball event set to take place early in the year, the Central Netball Zone is looking forward to expanding their competitions calendar for the current term.
Central Netball Zone welcomes its zonal community to be involved in the development of this great sport. “We hope to lure more players back to the game of netball this year,’’ said local netball guru, Rebekka Goagoses.
Meanwhile, the refresher umpires course will take place tomorrow at the Khomasdal sports grounds (netball courts). The ultimate aim of the course is to empower local umpires to get them ready for the league, which is slated to start on March 7, including international matches.
The refresher course will be facilitated by local netball expert Anita Ndjaranguru, an African award graded umpire, who has officiated at games at national level inside and outside the borders of Namibia.
Ndjaranguru will be assisted by another former netball great Natasha Takur, another Namibian graded umpire. Both attended a coaching and umpires workshop in Glasgow, Scotland, last year. Entry to the course is free of charge and all clubs and aspiring new umpires are urged to attend. Further information can be obtained from Imelda Nerongo, Central Netball Zone’s administrator at 081 208 7822 or Rebekka Goagoses-Nekundi at 081 380 2881.
