WINDHOEK – Air Namibia has taken delivery of its second brand new Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The addition of this latest aircraft to its fleet now completes the national airline’s major upgrade and fleet renewal programme.
The second A330-200 was delivered to Air Namibia by Airbus on Friday in Toulouse, France, following the delivery of the first aircraft on September 25, 2013.
Air Namibia is on a quest to continually strive to improve operational efficiency by aligning its services to the needs of the market.
“We are very pleased to take delivery of our second A330-200, marking another important step in the modernization of our fleet and our ongoing commitment to offer our customers an exceptional level of service,” explained Theo Namases, the Managing Director of Air Namibia.
The latest acquisition now brings the airline’s fleet to ten modern, young and efficient aircraft which are tailor-made to suit customer’s needs.
Air Namibia Head of Corporate Communications, Paulus Nakawa, said the airline is delighted to receive the second A330-200 as the aircraft had proven to be a market leader with more than 1000 aircraft delivered to over 100 operators world-wide. “It came at the very best time of the year. It is a gift to our passengers this festive season, to travel in sheer comfort as they join their friends and family during this period of the year,” said Nakawa.
The two aircraft are being leased from US-based lessor, Intrepid Aviation. The lease agreement will be for a 12-year period. The aircraft was expected to enter Air Namibia’s service between Frankfurt and Windhoek on Friday November 22, 2013.
