Young entrepreneur Homateni Kapewangolo wants to tackle the challenge of gaining easy and fast access to information by introducing an up-to-date and useful application to the public called Pula24.

Pula24 is a mobile application for people focussing on online marketing and advertising. It provides a platform where people can access government services, schools, bed and breakfast and, medical services, just to mention a few.
Kapewangolo, who has been working on the application for over two years now, says getting information instantly is always a challenge and therefore he wanted to change that.

“When I first started, I looked at the number of the unemployed and I had big dreams. So, I used my skills out of nothing with the hope of improving people’s lives by make information easily accessible,” says Kapewangolo.

He did not have funds to create the application until the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) funded the project. Pula24 will be available on Google Play Store for Android devices free of charge and businesses will pay as little as N$50 per month to advertise their products on the application.

“We monitor consumer trends and the application can be adapted anywhere in the world. Our thinking was what we (PulaTeam) can do to create an income and reinvest in the economy and it came to pass,” he says.

Kapewangolo advises fellow youth to always make use of their resources to invest in the economy and make a change. “Look at what you have, use your skills and surroundings, work together and contribute to the Harambee [Prosperity] Plan. Money is not always important but it is more about putting your idea into action.”
