WINDHOEK– The Augustineum Secondary School in Windhoek has awarded its top performing learners over the weekend.
According to the head of the organising committee, Ananias van der Kamati, also a teacher at the school, more than 300 learners were awarded for their outstanding performance academically and in extramural activities. Kamati who only joined the school this year, explains that he re-introduced the awards which only took place two years ago the last time to motivate and encourage learners to perform better. “I want them to be more competitive, so that we can bring the school back to those glory days,’ he said.
Manual Nakale was awarded the Best performer in Grade 8, Melania Daniels the Best performer in Grade 11, Ester Kamati the Best performer in Grade 9 and Venick Mashuno the Dux student. Kamati teaches Otjiherero to Grade 10s and Grade 12s at the school.
